International MBA students in Montreal to battle over cases and make a difference
Over 230 participants in city to compete and contribute to a worthy cause
MONTREAL, Dec. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - From January 3 to 8 2011, the John Molson School of Business MBA International Case Competition, organized by Concordia University students, will celebrate its 30th anniversary and welcome hundreds of students from 36 universities from around the world at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel (900 René-Lévesque Blvd. W).
Throughout the week, teams will have three hours to read, analyze and develop an innovative solution to a business case. Using acetates and projectors, teams will battle it out to see who can best demonstrate their business acumen when presenting their solutions to a panel of judges recruited from top Montreal corporations. The winning team takes home the Concordia Cup, a cheque for $10,000 and the prestige of winning the world's oldest and largest business competition.
"We are very excited to welcome new schools at the 30th anniversary edition of the competition. New participants include Lahore University of Management Sciences (Pakistan) and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel)," said Carolyn Crewe, Executive Assistant, Marketing.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, organizers will also raise funds on behalf of Lights for Life, a non-profit organization that provides some of the world's poorest children from homes without electricity with durable, rechargeable, environmentally sensitive lighting so they may learn and study after dark. At the same time, these lights work to reduce the carbon footprint of each child by replacing fossil fuel based kerosene lanterns with emissions-free lighting.
The organizing team partnered with this charity since its values are consistent with its core values of promoting outstanding business education experiences and serving the community. The John Molson School of Business MBA International Case Competition would not be possible without the generous contributions and the support of the Montreal business community.
THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
