WENDAKE, QC, March 8, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - On this International Women's Day, the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) would like to pay tribute to the women who are at the heart of our families and our Nations.
"On behalf of all AFNQL Chiefs, I would like to honour all women, especially Indigenous women, for their courage, determination and tireless fight for justice and equality. Their tenacity shows us that as a society, we must support their actions and become involved in a meaningful way, in solidarity. Changing things remains the very essence of the fight taken up by women many decades ago. This day provides an opportunity to take stock of the achievements thus far, and there are many. Nevertheless, we still have a great deal of work to do to attain genuine justice for Indigenous women and the AFNQL plans to continue supporting such initiatives and continue its wonderful collaboration with the elected First Nations women as well as the Quebec Native Women," declared Ghislain Picard, AFNQL Chief.
