International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development - Village Monde, Air Canada Foundation and Partners Launch the Exploring a World of Sustainable Destinations Campaign
MONTREAL, March 6, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Village Monde, Air Canada Foundation and partners launched on March 2 the Exploring a World of Sustainable Destinations campaign. This social media campaign will take the form of a challenge. It will firstly allow six bloggers, then 10 volunteer explorers, to explore dozens of new sustainable tourism destinations in remote communities in 13 countries affected by poverty. Addressing the media from Paris, Charles Mony, Village Monde founder, was proud to launch this campaign which will roll out until December 2017 for the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development (UNWTO).
"It is with a great enthusiasm that the Air Canada Foundation joins Village Monde for the launch of this great campaign in celebration of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. We are very interested in the development of sustainable tourism and are actively participating in humanitarian efforts throughout the world, especially when they offer support to children and their families, since the main mission of the Foundation is to help the children in need," explains Leslie Quinton, Vice President of Corporate Communications and member of the administrative board of Air Canada Foundation.

Travel with the Bloggers in the Sustainable Destinations Challenge on March 25
After their departure on March 25, three pairs of bloggers from three continents will simultaneously share with us their experiences in sustainable tourism communities. All material posted by the bloggers will be available in real time on social networks and on www.villagemonde.com/explorationsolidaire/en .
Future Explorers, on your mark!
The bloggers race will be followed by the Become explorers in solidarity challenge. Candidates interested in exploration grants will be invited to submit their applications online beginning on April 8. The grants will allow them to travel for a month (between June and October 2017) to explore and evaluate some sustainable tourism destinations. These destinations will be subsequently promoted for free on Village Monde's collaborative platform. Building on values of humaneness, sharing and respect, Village Monde connects travellers looking for authentic encounters with remote villages. Just one person travelling there can help from 10 to 20 families by supporting local ethical jobs.
Village Monde would like to thank its partners: Air Canada Foundation, LOJIQ, CECI, Caisse Desjardins Charlesbourg, Rotary Club Charlesbourg (Canada), ATES and the ATD (France).
