Intertek Helps Companies Meet Requirements of Approaching December 1, 2010
Deadline for EU CLP Regulation
OTTAWA, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - Intertek (www.intertek.com), the leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries, provides comprehensive solutions to assist companies in complying with the European Union's Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (CLP), REACH, and GHS regulatory requirements.
The CLP Regulation requires manufacturers, importers, and downstream users to classify, label, and package substances and mixtures within scope before placing them on the EU market. Substance classification, labeling and packaging must comply with the new rules by December 1, 2010. For mixtures, the CLP (EC)1272/2008 deadline is June 1, 2015.
In order to maintain access to the EU market, companies need to notify the classification of substances sold both individually and in mixtures as of December 1, 2010. The Notification must be generated using specific IT Tools and it must be submitted to ECHA within 30 days after manufacture or import into the EU.
Intertek provides global expertise through the identification of obligations, the preparation of required CLP notification dossiers, the re-classification of substances and mixtures to meet the new CLP and GHS requirements, creation and update of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and creation of compliant labels and transport documents. Intertek also offers full declaration support and a strategy and training package to support companies in becoming compliant, including a process for implementing the new requirements in related areas such as transportation and workplace safety.
"Companies are faced with a time crunch to meet this new Classification and Labelling regulation alongside the REACH deadlines," states Dr. Ruud Overbeek, Vice President of Intertek's Health and Environmental Services, Restricted Substances and REACH. "Intertek has designed a rapid cost-effective and efficient solution to help our customers around the globe meet these challenging deadlines."
Intertek will present an overview of the CLP Regulation requirements during a free 1 hour webinar on September 22, 2010 at 10:00 am EDT and 2:00 pm EDT. For more information or to register, please visit: http://www.intertek.com/news/2010/clp-webinar/
