INTERVIEW/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY - ACTIVE AT SCHOOL celebrates local New Brunswick schools for implementing one hour of physical activity per day

Olympians visit local schools to encourage kids and teachers to take time for physical activity
Educators, teachers and kids get active with the Premier's Challenge

MONCTON, June 2, 2014 /CNW/ - Join ACTIVE AT SCHOOL, Canadian Tire and Sport Chek on June 4 and 6 as they celebrate four local schools taking part in the Premier's Challenge. Accompanied by Olympic and Paralympic Gold Medalists, ACTIVE AT SCHOOL, Canadian Tire, Sport Chek and the Government of New Brunswick will show their support and  highlight the difference that one hour of physical activity per day has made within the school and amongst some of the province's youth.

You're invited to join us. Experience the unique physical activity programs that are taking place on a daily basis, from a walk around the lake to street hockey, jumping rope and throwing frisbees. Interviews and photo opportunities will be available on site.

Launched in late 2013, the Premier's Challenge pledged to ensure all kids across the province participate in one hour of physical activity in school per day. Delivering on their promise in April 2014, the province announced the 20 pilot schools taking part in the Premier's Challenge. The pilot schools are now rolling out their programs uniquely designed to fit their individual needs. Based on the results of the pilot project, the program will expand province-wide in 2014.
