Enhancing safety in the Greater Montreal Area
LONGUEUIL, QC, March 2, 2015 /CNW/ - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing $17,038,174 over three years, to enhance safety at the Aéroport Montréal Saint-Hubert Longueuil.
Funding will pay for the rehabilitation of Runway 06L-24R and Taxiways C, M and R, including electrical improvements and the replacement of the airfield drainage systems. This work will ensure continued safe airport operations for flight crews, passengers, and employees.
Funding is provided through Transport Canada's Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).

- To date, the Aéroport Montréal Saint-Hubert Longueuil has received over $18.6 million in funding for seven safety projects, through ACAP, including today's announcement.
- Previous projects included the purchase of a front-end loader, runway sweeper, self-propelled snow blower, and a snow plow truck with bucket and plow.
- Since the program started, the Government of Canada has invested more than $682 million for 823 projects at 174 airports across the country.
