PEACE RIVER, AB, Aug. 25, 2014 /CNW/ - Chris Warkentin, Member of Parliament for Peace River, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced an investment of $11,395,372 over two years for the rehabilitation of Runway 04-22 and Taxiways A and B, and work on the subdrains at the Peace River Airport.
This work will ensure continued safe operation for passengers, employees, medical evacuations, and firefighting operations.
Funding is provided by Transport Canada's Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).
Quick Facts
- To date, through ACAP, the Peace River Airport has received over $15.5 million in funding for nine safety projects, including today's announcement.
- Previous projects included the rehabilitation of airfield lighting and associated work; the rehabilitation of the runway and taxiways; and the purchase of a snowblower, snow plow truck, and runway sweeper.
- Since the program started, our government has invested more than $644 million for 786 projects at 174 airports across the country.
