Public call-to-action: once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 150 flagbearers to help carry the ceremonial flag across Canada
TORONTO, July 26, 2017 /CNW/ - Invictus Games Toronto 2017, presented by Jaguar Land Rover, announced today that it will bring the spirit of the Games to all Canadians, with the launch of its inaugural National Flag Tour.
The Invictus Games Toronto 2017 National Flag Tour will travel from coast-to-coast and visit 22 military bases, 15 legions and over 50 communities who have been a part of Canada's rich 150-year history.
As a nod to the anniversary of Confederation, Invictus Games Toronto 2017 is also conducting a search for 150 proud Canadians to help carry the Official Invictus Games Flag – a physical representation of the unconquerable spirit of the Games' competitors – across Canada.
"The National Flag Tour aims to engage the hearts and minds of all Canadians by inviting them to participate as Flagbearers and to attend stops along the tour," said Michael Burns, CEO, Invictus Games Toronto 2017. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 150 Canadians to stand alongside our military community and witness how the transformative power of sport helps our wounded warriors."
Travelling as far east as Gander, Newfoundland and west to Comox, British Columbia, the 37-day Invictus Games Toronto 2017 National Flag Tour will connect Canadians from all parts of the country, and allow individuals across the nation to be involved in this exciting event.
Burns added: "We are honoured to have the Canadian Armed Forces, Veteran Affairs Canada, BMO Bank of Montreal, Jaguar Land Rover, Via Rail and President's Choice on the road with us for the National Flag Tour. As the official Flag Tour partners, we are grateful for their contributions. Partners like this make our Invictus Games National Flag Tour possible."
