MONTREAL, Oct. 21, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Robert Beaudry, executive director of Société de développement social de Ville-Marie (SDSVM), a "social broker" that seeks to resolve social problems within the Ville-Marie borough, and Dominic Gilbert, president of the board of directors of the Building Owners and Managers Association of Québec (BOMA Quebec), invite you to the first of a series of initiatives meant to alleviate poverty, homelessness and social exclusion. Thanks to a new partnership between the organisations, about twenty people in job reintegration programs will work in teams and clean-up around the outside of five office buildings downtown and in Old Montreal. The clean-up operation has two goals: to allow property owners and managers who regularly deal with the homeless to do something concrete to help reduce the number of people on the streets, and to help people in precarious situations by providing an opportunity for them to do paid work, under supervised conditions and eventually to become employable.
Date: October 23, 2014 (rain or shine)
Time: 10 a.m.
Address: South-west corner of Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle, across from the Montreal Convention Centre
Representatives of the various groups will be available for interviews. It will also be possible to record video of the participants during the clean-up.
