Invitation to Media and Journalists - The Canadian Religious Conference's 30th General Assembly and Celebration of its 60th Anniversary Français
MONTREAL, May 22, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - From May 29 to through June 1, 2014, 280 leaders of Catholic religious congregations in Canada will come together in Montreal to attend the 30th General Assembly of the Canadian Religious Conference (CRC).
The Assembly will be vested with special meaning this year because it is the CRC's 60th anniversary, an event that will be celebrated during a festive evening on May 30, at which time the souvenir album Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow will be unveiled.
With history as backdrop and eyes turned towards the future, the theme of the CRC's 30th General Assembly is Beyond Frontiers: A Call to Transformation. It is an invitation to take a fresh look at the presence, within congregations, the Church and society, of people coming from different cultures, conveying their own values, beliefs and stories, each more diverse than the next.
Father Anthony Gittins, c.s.sp., an expert on intercultural issues, will help the Assembly undertake a process of inner transformation to meet the challenges being raised in this new reality. This process is meant to be an invitation to openness, to dialogue, to creativity, to trying something new. At the end of the Assembly, a new Administrative Council will be elected and some orientations and priorities will be proposed.
The CRC invites the media and journalists to come hear Father Anthony Gittins on:
May 30, from 9:00 to 11:30am and from 1:00pm to 6:00pm, as well as at the 60th anniversary celebration at 7:30pm.
May 31, from 9:00 to 11:30am and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
This will be an opportunity for you to meet Father Gittins as well as the participants.
The CRC General Assembly will be held at the Sheraton Montreal Airport Hotel, located at 555 Boulevard McMillan, Dorval, QC, near Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. We hope that you will be able to join us on May 30 and 31, 2014.
From May 29 onwards, a daily summary will be posted on the CRC website at: www.crc-canada.org. The text of the presentations will be made available during the Assembly.
