The Coalition of Physicians for Social Justice will discuss it brief on Bill 52 - An Act respecting the end-of-life, to be tabled for the public hearings on 24 September 2013 at 19:30.
Dr. Paul Saba will demonstrate how the proposed upcoming legislation goes against fundamental values of medicine, and how safeguards and controls that are being proposed will not be able to protect the lives of people not only at the "end of life " but also those not at the end of life.
Mr. Dominique Talarico will present legal arguments to demonstrate the failings of the legislation in terms of the law and the medical system. He will point out the clear risks access to euthanasia poses for the population.
Helene Beaudin, will recount the journey of losing her father to chronic illness in 2010. Presently she is accompanying her mother with cancer at the end of her life. Mrs Beaudin explains why she is opposed to euthanasia for her mother as well as for the community.
The sad story of the euthanasia death of a depressed Belgian professor's mother at the age of 64 , underscores the slippery slope of euthanasia legislation.
