QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 14, 2023 /CNW/ - Members of the media are invited to attend the opening of the first Forum on First Nations Language Rights in Quebec, organized by the Regional Committee on First Nations Languages in collaboration with the First Nations Education Council (FNEC).
The event, which will bring together more than 100 participants, will promote knowledge mobilization on the inherent rights of First Nations. For the first time in Quebec, the Regional Committee on First Nations Languages will coordinate a panel on First Nations language rights.
Chiefs and elected officials from multiple First Nations communities, the First Nations Director of the Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Languages, Joan Greyeyes, and elders from several Nations will be in attendance. Furthermore, professors Marianne Ignace and Lorna Williams will also present lectures.
