Invitation to the media: Press screening: 24 days. The truth about the Halimi affair
MONTREAL, May 28, 2014 /CNW/ - The Alliance israélite universelle-Canada in cooperation with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA Quebec) is pleased to invite media representatives to an exclusive press screening of the movie '24 Jours' (subtitled in English). There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the film and its recent release in France, drawing the attention of many journalists. While the film has been praised for its quality, the controversy surrounding its release has focused primarily on the merits of telling this particular story and its impact on society.
In the presence well known film maker Alexandre Arcady, we will have a one-time exclusive screening for journalists in North America on:
June 2, 2014 at 10:00 am, at the Imperial Cinema,
The film tells the story of the kidnapping of Ilan Halimi in January 2006 in Paris by 'le gang des Barbares'. Targeted because he was a Jew, Ilan Halimi endured 3 fatal weeks of torture and confinement. This event caused powerful wave of shock and highlighted the disturbing resurgence of anti-Semitism in France.
Alexandre Arcady will take questions from the press following the screening and is available for interviews.
