MONT-TREMBLANT, QC and TAMPA, FL, Aug. 15, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - IRONMAN announced yesterday that it will renew its agreement with Mont-Tremblant to continue hosting IRONMAN triathlons for five additional years, renewable after 2021. The agreement includes three events: the Subaru 5150 Mont-Tremblant triathlon, Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant and Subaru IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant. IRONMAN will enter into the agreement with both Ville Mont-Tremblant and the Government of Québec.
IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant debuted on the IRONMAN circuit in 2012 and has been a tremendously popular race among athletes of all levels. Mont-Tremblant was selected to host the IRONMAN® North American Championship in both 2013 and 2014 as well as the rotating IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship in 2014, truly positioning itself as a go-to destination for both professional and amateur triathletes.
"We are thrilled about this agreement renewal which acknowledges the unique reputation that Subaru IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant has achieved in a very short period of time," said Dominique Piché, Race Director of IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant. "Since day one, the Québec government and local elected officials have strongly supported our efforts, and the entire community has shown a unique commitment to the IRONMAN events. We are happy to celebrate this major achievement and we are confident that both the direct and indirect economic impacts will benefit the Mont-Tremblant region and Québec as a whole."
"Mont-Tremblant has clearly become a high-caliber North American training hub for triathletes and we feel privileged that IRONMAN has chosen to renew its agreement for the IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant events for another five-year term," added the Mayor of Mont-Tremblant, Luc Brisebois. "The mobilization of our local community in welcoming the followers of this sport of endurance has been key. We continue to improve our infrastructure, never take anything for granted and strive to offer an ideal race location for all of these top athletes."
In addition to Subaru, the official title sponsor of the IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant events, a new presenting sponsor will also be present for the 2016-2018 races. Sportium, a new sports clothing and equipment store which will launch in the fall of 2015 by SAIL Outdoors, will offer an exclusive in-store boutique dedicated to IRONMAN official apparel. Sportium is a Québec-owned and operated company whose first two outlets will be located in Brossard and Québec City.
