100% of funds raised in all four Run locations
– Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Val-d'Or –
on September 30 will be invested in Quebec
MONTREAL, May 22, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is pleased to announce that well-known television and radio host Isabelle Racicot is the new spokesperson for the CIBC Run for the Cure in Quebec. This year's event takes place on Sunday, September 30 in Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke and Val D'Or, and registration is currently open at cibcrunforthecure.com.
"My mom died of breast cancer in 1985, so it's a cause that's obviously very close to my heart and one which I am proud to support," says Racicot. "The sheer scale and scope of CCS's work means greater impact for all those with breast cancer and best of all, the funds raised through the Run in Quebec stay in our province to fund important research and support programs. I can't wait to participate in the Run in Montreal this September."
All proceeds raised by the CIBC Run for the Cure in Quebec will be invested in the province by CCS to fund the most promising breast cancer research that is leading the way in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care. Money raised also funds vital, compassionate support programs for those affected by this disease. Last year, across the country, the Run raised a total of $17 million.
"We are delighted to have Isabelle Racicot as our new Quebec CIBC Run for the Cure spokesperson. Her passion for the breast cancer cause is undeniable and her energy and enthusiasm will help us engage more people to take part in the Run," says Suzanne Dubois, Executive Director of CCS – Quebec.
"As a proud partner on the Run for more than 20 years, we are inspired by Ms. Racicot's commitment to helping fight for a future without breast cancer," says Sylvain Vinet, Region Head, Eastern Canada Region, CIBC Retail Distribution, adding "we are excited for her to join Quebecers in supporting the individuals and communities impacted by the disease."
