Israeli Wines Featured in LCBO's Kosher for Passover Selection

TORONTO, April 3, 2014 /CNW/ - In time for Passover, which begins on April 14, the LCBO is adding 27 seasonal releases to its already diverse selection of kosher products.

Most of the seasonal offerings are premium wines made from popular grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. This year's selection focuses on wines from Israel, with additional products from Australia, Italy, California and France.

"With its Mediterranean climate and five distinct wine-growing regions, Israel's reputation as a premium wine destination is growing," says Shari Mogk-Edwards, Vice President, LCBO Products, Sales and Merchandising. "The range and quality of Israeli kosher wines available at the LCBO make them a popular choice for customers and good value not only at Passover, but all year round."

In addition to the approximately 40 kosher products available throughout the year, a mixture of new listings and familiar favorites is being released through the LCBO and vintages to coincide with Passover. These include traditional kosher wines, fortified wines, dessert wines and sparkling wines, as well as spirits including Tequila, Arak and Amaretto liqueur. Wines start at under $10, while spirits are in the $30-$70 price range.

Varied quantities of kosher products are available in more than 500 LCBO stores across the province, with the largest selection available at three GTA stores: 180 Promenade Circle (Promenade Mall) in Thornhill, 1838 Avenue Road (south of Wilson Avenue) and 675 Wilson Avenue in North York.

Consumers are reminded to bring a reusable bag when shopping at the LCBO and to take empty beverage alcohol containers (large and small glass bottles, PET plastic, Tetra Pak cartons, bag-in-box and cans) to The Beer Store for a full deposit refund.
