ITF to visit stranded crew in port of Argentia
ST. JOHN'S, Nov. 13, 2014 /CNW/ - International Transport Workers Federation (ITF UNIFOR) Inspector Gerard Bradbury will visit the Ukrainian crew of the stranded vessel in the port of Argentia, Newfoundland and Labrador, to bring them food and water and discuss plans to get the crew paid.
The situation is becoming increasingly urgent as the crew have not received their wages since July and have run out of food, relying on deliveries made by Unifor and the ITF. Bradbury says that the ship will soon have need for water to be trucked in and pumped on board.
Bradbury will be at the Fish, Food and Allied Workers (FFAW Unifor) office on Friday to inform the media of the current situation and the next steps being planned to assist the crew.
