Its about Firkin time - The Firkin on King Opens its Doors
TORONTO, June 30 /CNW/ - The Firkin Group of Pubs is proud to announce the opening of their new flagship location The Firkin on King in Toronto at 461 King Street West. A full service pub/restaurant modeled after the traditional neighbourhood British pub, The Firkin on King opened its doors in the trendy King West neighbourhood this week. Local beer lovers will now have a new place to gather, raise a glass and "cheers" as The Firkin on King officially taps its first keg, fires up the grill and opens its doors to the downtown community.
"With all the planning, meetings and construction logistics we've worked through over the past few months, it is exciting that The Firkin on King has finally opened for business in such a thriving urban community," says Dan Targonsky, General Manager. "At Firkin, we're all about good food, good pints and good Firkin fun so we're especially excited to be able to bring the full Firkin experience to the King West neighbourhood."
Customers will also notice the close attention that Firkin Group of Pubs has paid to the design of this new corporate location. Formerly a Toronto Dominion Bank branch, the Firkin design and feel melds seamlessly with the original marble flooring, wood panelling and existing structural elements of the former bank. A previous office is now a cosy games room, complete with chess, backgammon and checker boards. Across the main bar room is a private boardroom that is ideal for private functions, corporate meetings and business lunches. Downstairs, the handsome main dining area capitalizes on the existing brickwork and panelling to create a warm and comfortable space for great meals with friends and family. The Firkin on King also has an inviting patio space which seats 80 people.
Combined with the main bar area upstairs and the bar and dining room in the basement, this Firkin pub boasts seating for nearly 400 people, one of Firkin Group of Pubs largest, and most unique, locations to date.
"Every effort has been made to maintain the original character and history of the existing space", says Ian Fisher, Firkin Group of Pubs lead designer. "We've worked hard to marry the traditional Firkin Pubs look and feel with a non-traditional, original space - as we do with all of our pubs."
As a casual and comfortable neighbourhood establishment, The Firkin on King will serve an extensive lunch and dinner menu, a brunch menu on weekends and a late night menu for Toronto's night-owls. The new Firkin location will also offer different specials daily, with set menu fare including traditional British pub dishes. When guests arrive at The Firkin on King their taste buds will not only be tempted by the traditional pub fare but pint lovers will also enjoy sampling 17 domestic, premium and imported beers on tap.
"Our new flagship location is a proud accomplishment for us and we welcome Torontonians to experience the originality that our new pub has to offer. Combined with all of the offerings and traditional touches of the Firkin experience, this Firkin pub is sure to impress," declares Larry Isaacs, Director of Marketing for Firkin Group of Pubs.
The Firkin on King will continue the Firkin Group of Pubs legacy of supporting the community which includes sponsoring local aid organizations, charitable programs and neighbourhood sports teams.
