CALGARY, April 9, 2014 /CNW/ - H&R Block Canada, Canada's largest tax preparation company, is open for business across the country and will continue to prepare all types of tax returns during Canada Revenue's Agency's electronic filing outage.
For taxpayers who have paid for any tax software package, H&R Block Canada offices will offer a credit on the purchase price when they prepare the return.
The CRA announced earlier today it has temporarily cut off public access to their online systems due to an Internet security vulnerability known as the Heartbleed Bug. The agency says it is a pre-emptive measure and does not affect returns already filed.
"We want to assure our clients that this outage will not affect our offices and it will continue to be business as usual at our tax offices," said Richard Brown, president, H&R Block Canada. "Based on past experiences, we would not expect the CRA to extend the tax filing deadline so we would encourage people to get their taxes ready for filing."
H&R Block Tax Software online and software users are not vulnerable to security issues.
