It's official: 3D TV arrives at Future Shop stores across Canada tomorrow

BURNABY, BC, March 25 /CNW/ - The 3D TV revolution starts today in Canada with Future Shop, Canada's leading retailer and e-tailer of consumer electronics, kicking it off with an impressive 3D TV line-up from Samsung. The good news does not stop there: according to a new survey conducted by Angus Reid on behalf by Future Shop, almost half of Canadians (44 per cent) anticipate the new 3D TVs will cost more than $3,000, but in reality, are much more affordable.

"We're thrilled to be one of the first retailers to offer Canadians the opportunity to get their hands on this amazing technology at an affordable price," said Todd Empey, Vice President of Operations, Future Shop. "Together with Samsung, we are now able to enhance the home entertainment experience with 3D TVs."

The first 3D TVs Future Shop will offer Canadians are five Samsung models in three different sizes - 55", 46" and 40". With nearly seven in 10 Canadians most excited to watch movies in 3D, Future Shop will also carry a selection of 3D films and Samsung 3D accessories including a 3D blu-ray disc player and rechargeable 3D glasses.

All new 3D TVs are compatible with regular HDTVs and can feature technology like LED, Wi-Fi, Internet streaming and upconverting capabilities.
