IVANHOE CAMBRIDGE NAMED ONE OF CANADA'S BEST EMPLOYERS FOR THE SEVENTH
CONSECUTIVE YEAR
MONTREAL, Oct. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Ivanhoe Cambridge is pleased to announce that it has ranked as one of 2011's Best Employers in Canada, according to an annual employee survey conducted by Hewitt Associates. This is the seventh consecutive year that the Company has appeared on the list, published previously by The Globe and Mail and this year by Maclean's magazine and La Presse. Ivanhoe Cambridge is in 40th position.
"Ranking as one of Canada's top employers for the seventh year in a row is a remarkable achievement, of which we are very proud. Our talented teams at Ivanhoe Cambridge pull together every day with tremendous efforts and energy in order to create outstanding shopping destinations. Our success and our position as a leader in our industry are due to our employees. I extend my heartfelt thanks to them all," said Kim D. McInnes, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ivanhoe Cambridge.
The fact that Ivanhoe Cambridge is on this prestigious list of leading Canadian employers speaks to the strength of the commitment of its 1,300 employees around the world.
Shopping centres are all about people
"Ivanhoe Cambridge's success is driven by people. Our employees are way ahead of the trends while others follow. Our core values - integrity and respect, service excellence, drive to outperform, teamwork and innovation - along with our training and development initiatives as well as our competitive compensation package all come together to motivate our employees," said David Smith, Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Ivanhoe Cambridge.
Ivanhoe Cambridge's convictions translate into a strong and steadfast commitment towards its employees and sustainable development.
In response to employees' requests for increased autonomy, teamwork, recognition, training and work tools, Ivanhoe Cambridge has developed or redesigned various programs to help achieve its business objectives and support individual career goals. As a result, an online performance management system, a more flexible benefits program, improved years-of-service awards and the Harvard ManageMentor program for managers have either recently been launched or are about to be.
From an environmental perspective, Ivanhoe Cambridge is keenly aware of its responsibility in this regard. All of its shopping centres run recycling programs that help divert tonnes of waste from landfill every year. Moreover, the Company is one of the shopping centre industry's top purchasers of green energy in North America. And in order to optimize its sustainability efforts, an ambitious information-gathering project is currently under way to identify areas where further improvements can be made.
But Ivanhoe Cambridge's biggest source of pride is unquestionably the drive and determination of its employees, who enthusiastically volunteer for causes that are near and dear to them. As a token of its support for their dedication, the Company offers a paid day off, under the Give & Take program, to employees who donate a day of service to the charity of their choosing. Last but not least, Ivanhoe Cambridge and its employees are also long-time supporters of Centraide/United Way.
About the survey
The study was designed and conducted in spring 2009 by Aon Hewitt, the human capital consulting and outsourcing solutions of Aon Corporation. Organizations employing at least 400 people were asked to participate.
The survey has three components: Leadership Team, Human Resources and Employee Opinion. All Ivanhoe Cambridge employees (full- and part-time) are invited to complete the Employee Opinion component and submit their responses confidentially and directly to Aon Hewitt. The results of this survey account for the majority of an organization's final score. It is this aspect of the Best Employers study that distinguishes it from other lists of "top companies" as employees determine the Best Employers.
