Substantial gift from the Richardson Foundation enables greatly enhanced volunteer experience for JA volunteers across Canada
TORONTO, April 11, 2016 /CNW/ - JA Canada ("JA"), the largest provider of youth business education programs in Canada, today announced the launch of the Royden Richardson Virtual School for Volunteers ("RRVS"). As JA Canada's first centralized online volunteer training portal, RRVS will enable JA to expand its reach to students across Canada by providing volunteers with a convenient and flexible online platform for training and community engagement.
"In launching the RRVS, we are very excited to be able to provide our dedicated JA volunteers with a convenient training option that not only allows them to access information at anytime, but also grants them the ability to share their experiences, insights, and best practices with each other, " said Karen Gallant, Interim President and CEO, JA Canada. "The Richardson family has a long-standing commitment to excellence in leadership, business and the community. We are deeply grateful that the Richardson Foundation chose to honour the memory of Mr. Royden Richardson with this transformative legacy gift. "
Last year, 12,500 volunteers delivered over 170,000 hours of educational programs to roughly 250,000 youth across Canada. With the initiation of the Royden Richardson Virtual School, volunteers will be able to successfully prepare online to deliver JA programs, as well as plan how they will share their real-life lessons with students. Volunteers will now have flexible options for training and interacting with their peers, while they develop their communication, presentation and leadership skills. We are delighted to support an initiative that will encourage others to give back by volunteering with JA Canada, an organization that is dedicated to providing Canadian youth with the skills and tools that they need to succeed in business."
