Jack Webster Foundation - Journalism Fellowships Announced
VANCOUVER, April 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Jack Webster Foundation Co-Chairs Don Babick and Scott Macrae today announced more than $14,000 in funding for 2013 recipients of the JWF Professional Development Fellowships.
Four recipients will attend the Poynter Institute in Florida in the following courses: Backpack and Mobile Video reporting, Secrets of Great Enterprise Reporting and Investigating Local Government on a Shoestring Budget.
"We're very proud that the Jack Webster Foundation is able to provide professional development opportunities for BC journalists," Macrae said. "To date a total of $194,000 has been distributed." The 2013 Jack Webster Foundation Fellows are:
- Charelle Evelyn, reporter, Prince George Citizen
- Claudia Lau, reporter, Fairchild TV
- Elaine O'Connor, reporter, The Province
- Kelly Sinoski, reporter, The Vancouver Sun
Sinoski receives the JWF Fellowship in the name of the late BC reporter Don Matheson, whose estate endowed an award for a BC-born journalist.
Deadline for entries to the 2014 fellowships is February 24, 2014.
The Jack Webster Foundation was established in 1986 to recognize and support excellence in BC-based journalism.
