Jack Webster Foundation - Journalism Fellowships Announced
VANCOUVER, March 27, 2015 /CNW/ - Jack Webster Foundation Co-Chairs Joanna Piros and Ernest Yee today announced $15,000 in funding for 2015 recipients of the JWF Professional Development Fellowships.
All five recipients will attend the Poynter Institute in Florida in the following courses: Hands-On Backpack and Mobile Video Reporting, Secrets of Great Enterprise Reporting and The Effective Reporter.
"We're very proud that the Jack Webster Foundation is able to provide professional development opportunities for BC journalists," Yee said. "To date, more than $200,000 has been distributed."
The 2015 Jack Webster Foundation Fellows are:
- Paula Baker, online producer, Global BC
- Anita Bathe, reporter, News1130
- Robert Buffam, reporter/anchor, CTV News Vancouver Island
- Tamara Cunningham, reporter, Nanaimo News Bulletin
- Dan Fumano, reporter, The Province
Cunningham and Fumano receive JWF Fellowships in the name of the late BC reporter Don Matheson, whose estate endowed professional development awards for BC-born journalists.
The Jack Webster Foundation was established in 1986 to recognize and support excellence in BC-based journalism.
The work of the Foundation is made possible by the generous sponsorship of BCMEA, CN, HSBC Bank Canada, CPA, Labatt Breweries, Fortis BC, Port Metro Vancouver, TELUS, CAPP and WorkSafeBC.
Deadline for entries to the 2016 fellowship program is February 26, 2016.
