Jack Webster Foundation - Journalism Fellowships Announced
VANCOUVER, March 21, 2016 /CNW/ - Jack Webster Foundation Co-Chairs Scott Macrae and Ernest Yee today announced $8500 in funding for 2016 recipients of the JWF Professional Development Fellowships.
"We're very proud that the Jack Webster Foundation is able to provide professional development opportunities for BC journalists," Macrae said. "To date, close to $210,000 has been distributed." The 2016 Jack Webster Foundation Fellows are:
- Samantha Wright Allen, reporter, Prince George Citizen
- Chris Flak, producer, CTV News Vancouver
Wright Allen receives the JWF Fellowship in the name of the late BC reporter Don Matheson, whose estate endowed professional development awards for BC born journalists.
Both recipients will attend the Poynter Institute in Florida, Wright Allen for The Summit on Reporting and Editing and Flak for Essential Skills for New Managers.
The Jack Webster Foundation was established in 1986 to recognize and support excellence in BC-based journalism.
The work of the Foundation is made possible by the generous sponsorship of BCMEA, CN, Fortis BC, HSBC Bank Canada, Labatt Breweries, Port Metro Vancouver, Resource Works, and TELUS.
