OTTAWA, Nov. 9, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, on behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, Her Honour the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, presented the insignia of Member of the Order of Canada to Jacqueline Clay Shumiatcher. The ceremony took place at the Conexus Arts Centre, in Regina. Mrs. Clay Shumiatcher was appointed on May 11, 2017.

Jacqueline Clay Shumiatcher's philanthropic record is legendary in Saskatchewan. For decades, through her generosity and personal involvement, she has played a significant role in developing and supporting a diverse range of cultural and social organizations. Passionate about the arts, she has contributed her time, energy and financial support to numerous institutions, including the MacKenzie Art Gallery, the University of Regina and the Regina Symphony Orchestra. Her sustained philanthropy has contributed to the vitality of the province's arts and culture scene.
During the day, the Lieutenant Governor also presented the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers and Meritorious Service Decorations (Civil Division) on behalf of the Governor General to close to 50 deserving recipients from the province.
