LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 17, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) announces that in order to carry out painting work on the steel section located above the St. Lawrence Seaway, Jacques Cartier Bridge will be partially closed during the weekends of August 22-23, August 29-30, and September 5-6, from Friday, 11 p.m. to Monday, 5 a.m. During this period, three out of five lanes will be closed in order to maintain one lane open in each direction. Traffic flow might be affected and users are invited to avoid this sector.
Full overnight closures
The painting work will also require several full overnight closures between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. These will take place on Tuesday, August 25; Wednesday, August 26; and Thursday, August 27. At that time, the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be completely closed to traffic in both directions.
These closures will ensure the safety of users and workers during the critical phase of the painting work on the steel section above the traffic lanes. The closures will also allow crews to install various equipment.
Please note that the work could be postponed due to weather conditions.
