Jacques Cartier Bridge: Reconfiguration and widening of the bike path at the
Longueuil approach
LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce that the contract for the reconfiguration of the bike path on the Jacques Cartier Bridge at the Longueuil approach was awarded to Les Grands Travaux Soter inc.
The work will soon begin for a period of approximately three and a half months. During this period, cyclists can continue to use the bike path on the bridge, but must use a detour path that will be in place to reach St. Charles Street and Lafayette Boulevard.
"We are very pleased that we are able to proceed with this work this year, and to provide a more convenient and efficient bikeway for the residents of both the South Shore and Montreal", said Mr. Glen P. Carlin, General Manager of JCCBI.
The work entails the construction of a bike path on the Longueuil approach of the Jacques Cartier Bridge. Construction will entail the demolition of the existing concrete and asphalt sidewalk, foundation work, construction of a new bike path in concrete and asphalt, drainage work, fence installation and lane marking work. This new path will be about 3-4 meters in width.
