Jacques-Cartier Bridge to be avoided: Complete and Partial Traffic Lane
Closures - Overnight work from Saturday, March 27 to Tuesday, March 30
LONGUEUIL, QC, March 26 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce the complete closure of the five lanes of the Jacques Cartier Bridge on the following nights:
- Saturday, March 27 from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. - Night from Sunday, March 28, to Monday, March 29 from midnight to 4 a.m. - Night from Monday, March 29, to Tuesday, March 30, from midnight to 4 a.m.
IMPORTANT: Please also take note that two of five lanes will remain closed to traffic during the work from the complete closure on Saturday and Monday morning, that is, for most of the weekend.
The Sûreté du Québec will be on site to manage traffic flow in both directions. Variable message signs will be installed at both sides of the bridge. Two of the three lanes will move in the direction of the heaviest traffic.
The work will involve the replacement of two (2) bearings below the deck of the bridge. Detour roads will be put in place and the repairs will not be visible to bridge users other than by the signs installed in the area of the work site.
The bike path and the sidewalk will not be affected by the work and will remain open to the public. Please also note that the work may be postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions.
