Jacques Cartier Bridge: Work on Reconfiguring and Widening Bike Path at
Longueuil Approach Starts on September 10th
LONGUEUIL, QC, Sept. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce that work on reconfiguring the Jacques Cartier bike path at the Longueuil approach will start Friday, September 10th and will continue until the end of December 2010.
The work requires the complete closure of the section of the bike path located at the Longueuil approach. During the closure, cyclists will still be able to use the bike path on the bridge, but will have to take a detour that will start at the stairs at St-Charles Street in order to get to Lafayette Boulevard.
The work entails the construction of a bike path on the Longueuil approach of the Jacques Cartier Bridge. Construction will entail the demolition of the existing concrete and asphalt sidewalk, foundation work, construction of a new bike path in concrete and asphalt, drainage work, fence installation and lane marking work. This new path will be about 3-4 meters in width.
