Jaguar announces results of annual and special meeting of shareholders
TORONTO, June 17 /CNW/ - Jaguar Financial Corporation ("Jaguar") (TSX: JFC) announced the re-election of Vic Alboini, Joe Panetta and John Welton and the election of Victor Lazarovici as directors at its annual and special meeting of shareholders held yesterday. Doug Fowler has resigned as a director of Jaguar.
Mr. Alboini, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated "On behalf of Jaguar I want to thank Doug for his contribution to the Board and to Jaguar. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours. At the same time we welcome Victor Lazarovici to Jaguar's Board who brings significant experience and a strong skill-set, particularly in the mining sector."
Mr. Lazarovici is a director of Minera Andes, Inc. and Abacus Mining and Exploration Corp. Prior to his retirement from the financial services industry, he worked as a highly ranked and successful global metals and mining analyst for twenty years; most recently as the Managing Director and Senior Base Metals and Minerals Analyst for BMO Capital Markets in New York. There, he led a team of analysts covering the base metals sector that was consistently ranked amongst the top tier in all of the major Canadian polls of institutional investors. He also was the Managing Director and Senior Metals and Minerals Analyst at Smith Barney, where he was also consistently highly ranked in polls of U.S. institutional investors.
Prior to entering the financial sector as an analyst, Mr. Lazarovici spent over 14 years in the corporate sector in engineering, financial management and corporate development roles. His experience in the corporate sector was primarily in the telecommunications and mining industries, he was also manager of corporate planning and development for a large investment/holding company with interests in a broad range of industries.
Mr Lazarovici holds an MBA from York University in Downsview, Ontario, and a B.Eng. from Sir George Williams in Montreal, Quebec.
The shareholders also ratified, confirmed and approved certain payments made to Northern Securities Inc. and re-appointed Grant Thornton LLP as Jaguar's auditors for the ensuing year.
