Japanese Energy Leadership to Underpin Commitments to Natural Gas at Leading Asian Energy Event
SINGAPORE, Sept. 28, 2015 /CNW/ - As the world's largest consumer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), Japan's consumption accounts for one third of the entire global output every year, placing the country at the epicentre of supply-demand shifts as markets fluctuate in turbulent times. The future of Japan's energy security is a matter of national priority, leaving the country with challenging decisions regarding the fuels it chooses. The need to re-engage and re-negotiate major long-term LNG and gas contracts over the next few years will help Japanese customers drive better value and flexibility in the future.
With its once-strong demand for nuclear power now heavily diminished, the importance of Japan as the world's leading consumer of LNG will help bring thousands of major investors, stakeholders and players together at the world's leading gas & LNG event: the Gastech Conference & Exhibition, which arrives in Singapore from 27 to 30 October 2015.
Underpinning Japan's commitment to LNG as a lead fuel in the nation's future energy mix, Gastech Singapore is now anticipating the largest delegation from Japan in more than 40 years. Leaders from the most prominent Japanese trading and energy companies - Tokyo Gas, JERA, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, INPEX, ITOCHU, JAPEX, JX Nippon, Marubeni and Sumitomo - recently gathered in Tokyo to formally pledge their united support for Gastech.
The conference programme will also include speakers from leading Japanese companies including JERA, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Mitsui OSK, each presenting their knowledge and insight within the commercial and technical conference streams. Presentations will range from models for competitive LNG pricing to ensure the best deals for Japanese buyers, future opportunities for Japanese utility companies, developments in LNG storage on tankers and the impact on shipping routes in response to the widening of the Panama Canal and emergence of Arctic shipping routes.
In just 4 weeks' time Gastech will open its doors and more than 1,500 international and regional executives and VIPs will attend the conference, with a further 20,000 visitors expected to visit the international exhibition.
Gastech Conference & Exhibition 2015 is hosted by BG Group and supported by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) Singapore, International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (SECB), and will be held in association with the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW).
