MONTREAL, June 12, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Dessau is announcing that Jean-Pierre Sauriol has resigned from his position as President and Chief Executive Officer and that he is no longer a shareholder of the company. Dessau counts more than 425 shareholder-employees, predominantly from Quebec.
Mr. Sauriol's departure is part of the process for obtaining an integrity certification, awarded by the Autorité des marchés financiers du Québec (AMF) that makes businesses eligible to continue receiving contracts of $ 40 million and over.
"I have made this decision in what I believe to be in the best interest of Dessau and its 5,000 employees", said Mr. Sauriol. "In light of the exchanges we had with the AMF, it became evident to me that Dessau would not obtain this certification if I maintained the leadership of the company. I am therefore leaving the company to put in the best standing possible to obtain this certification, which is crucial for the continuation of its activities and further development."
The board of directors accepted the resignation and has named Marc Verreault as acting President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Verreault shall retain his position of Vice President, Major Projects-Construction. Along with the other members of the senior management team, he will support the company's new governance framework that will allow it to navigate successfully through this current crisis and continue its activities on a solid ethical and organizational foundation that will support Dessau's proven expertise in many fields of consulting engineering.
