MONTREAL, April 7, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - Our client, Mr. Jean Truchon, received medical aid in dying today at 2:00 p.m. at CHSLD Paul-Émile Léger. At his request, we share the following statement posthumously.
"Initially, I was going to die on June 22nd, 2020, in order to spend more time with my relatives and friends. Given the current context of the health crisis, I decided to take the train and leave my friends and all those who believed in me and my cause at the station. Before this pandemic, I had all the difficulties in the world keeping my head above water, with all my activities. The Coronavirus has literally stolen my time with those I love. Seeing what is coming frightens me the most. Therefore, I made the decision to leave now and this was well thought out. I would first like to thank judge Christine Baudouin for her incredible judgment which she wrote in just a few months. Also, I cannot overlook the incredible contribution that my lawyers have made throughout this case and to the end. I ask you to try to understand me and not to judge me. Thank you. "
At the request of Mr. Truchon, no additional comments will be made and no interview will be granted.
