Jean-Yves Leblanc appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Quebec

MONTREAL, Nov. 23 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Employers Council announces the appointment of Jean-Yves Leblanc as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Mr. Leblanc takes up his duties immediately, succeeding John LeBoutillier, who has capably fulfilled two consecutive mandates in this position and whose term expired today.
"Mr. Leblanc's chairmanship of the Quebec Employers Council shows the organization's power to attract key economic players in Quebec and its ability to stand out as the point where employers and the entire business world converge," said Yves-Thomas Dorval, the Council's President. Mr. Dorval emphasized Mr. LeBoutillier's outstanding contribution to the Council over the last four years and thanked him for his role in extending the organization's reach among Quebec employers throughout his two mandates.
"At a time when principles of good governance and rigour are essential for effective and sustainable operation of a board of directors, Mr. LeBoutillier is a model and a source of inspiration," Mr. Dorval stated. "His understanding of the issues affecting employers and his valuable advice have helped me enormously since I arrived at the Quebec Employers Council more than a year ago."
An experienced director
Mr. Leblanc has been a corporate director since 2004. He sits on the boards of many public and private companies, including Transat A.T., Pomerleau Inc., Desjardins Securities, Premier Tech Inc., Groupe Keolis and S.A.S. He was President and CEO of Bombardier Transport from 1986 to 2000 and was Chairman of the company from 2001 to 2004. Before holding these positions, he was a senior manager at Marine Industrie, where he was Vice-President, Hydroelectric Division, and Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Office of the company. Earlier, from 1973 to 1981, he was Vice-President and then President of Sométal Atlantic Ltée. Mr. Leblanc is also highly involved in the community. In particular, he has chaired the Board of Directors of the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde since 2005 and chaired the Board of the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History, Pointe-à-Callière, from 2001 to 2009. Since 2001, he has been a Board member at the Montreal Heart Institute, where he chairs the Research Committee. Mr. Leblanc holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Laval University, a master's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Toronto and an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.
