Joel Plaskett to play online benefit concert opposing gender-based violence, hosted by Canadian housing co-operatives Français
OTTAWA, June 1, 2020 /CNW/ - On June 13th, the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada (CHF Canada) will host Tireless Together At Home, a free livestreamed solo benefit concert by Halifax musician Joel Plaskett.
The concert will take place 3:30pm ET, Saturday, June 13th via Facebook Live, on CHF Canada's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/chfcanada/).
This concert will be a fundraiser for the Canadian Women's Foundation's Tireless Together Fund, a national emergency fund to provide critical support to women and girls through the COVID-19 crisis. It will help vital services to reach women and girls now and in the coming months.
The concert closes out CHF Canada's 2020 Annual General Meeting, which was planned to be held in Halifax, NS, but is instead being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The benefit concert is free for anyone to watch, and viewers are invited to donate to the Tireless Together fund (support.canadianwomen.org/tireless-together).
"This pandemic has gendered impacts, and diverse women and girls have been uniquely affected by it. Striving to support women and girls and being tireless in the effort to build a gender equal Canada is more important than ever. It's life-saving and critical to the well-being and recovery of all our communities."
- Paulette Senior, President and CEO, Canadian Women's Foundation
"Housing co-operatives have always demonstrated concern for their communities, both locally and more broadly. During this challenging time, we hope this concert will help to raise spirits, promote co-operation, and support the important work of organizations across Canada who are helping women and girls get through this crisis."
- Tim Ross, Executive Director, Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada
