John Intini Appointed Editor-in-Chief, Sportsnet Magazine
TORONTO, Jan. 22, 2014 /CNW/ - Steve Maich, Senior Vice President & GM, Publishing, at Rogers Media today announced the appointment of John Intini as Editor-in-Chief at Sportsnet magazine, effective immediately.
A veteran of the publishing industry, Intini most recently held the position of Editor at Sportsnet, and will take over the role previously vacated by Maich in early November. Intini will be tasked with further expanding readership across Canada while continuing to produce and deliver award-winning, multiplatform content that has quickly made Sportsnet magazine a leading Canadian sports publication.
"As the sports and publishing industries continue to evolve, having someone with John's knowledge and passion at the helm is crucial in helping the brand thrive," said Maich. "John has been a key contributor to Sportsnet's growth since day one, and I'm confident that under his leadership the magazine will continue to reach new levels of success and will engage, inform and entertain readers like never before."
Intini joined Rogers Publishing in 2000, where he worked at Maclean's for 11 years in various writing and editing roles, including one year as the Managing Editor of Macleans.ca, and then as Senior Editor of Maclean's magazine. He moved to Sportsnet just prior to the magazine's launch in September 2011 as Deputy Editor, and was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the magazine. In September 2013, John was named Editor of Sportsnet.
Since the magazine's launch in 2011, Sportsnet has earned three golds, two silvers, and nine honourable mentions - including a 2011 nomination for 'Magazine of the Year' - at the National Magazine Awards. Available in print, for tablet, on smartphones and on newsstands, it is Canada's only national bi-weekly sports publication, featuring some of Canada's top sports journalists.
