TORONTO, Feb. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - Sprott Asset Management LP ("Sprott") today announced that, effective immediately, John Wilson has assumed lead portfolio management responsibilities for Sprott Opportunities Hedge LP and Sprott Opportunities RSP Fund ("the Funds").
"John is an experienced manager of long-short strategies with a unique track record of delivering strong risk-adjusted returns to investors," said Peter Grosskopf, CEO of Sprott Inc. "We welcome his addition to the Sprott Opportunities team."
Mr. Wilson recently joined Sprott in the position of Senior Portfolio Manager. He will continue to manage the Funds as opportunistic, "go anywhere" long-short strategies. Mr. Wilson will also leverage the expertise of Sprott's industry-leading investment team and highly-regarded research professionals.
John Wilson joined Sprott in January 2012 and has over 25 years of investment and business experience. Most recently, Mr. Wilson was Chief Investment Officer of Cumberland Private Wealth Management. Previously, he was the founder of DDX Capital Partners, an alternative investment manager. Prior to that, Mr. Wilson was Managing Director and a top-rated technology analyst at RBC Capital Markets; and previously, a Director at UBS Canada. He is an MBA graduate of The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
