TORONTO, Nov. 2, 2016 /CNW/ - The Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies in Canada (J&J), with five businesses in Canada, applauds the Federal Government's recognition that Canada needs a sharpened focus and innovative ways to attract investment to Canada.
J&J supports the creation of the Invest in Canada Hub announced by Finance Minister Bill Morneau in yesterday's Fall Economic Statement. Enhancing coordination between departments and programs vying for global investment and providing leadership under a single federal body with the mandate to focus on attracting investment in strategic markets will help make Canada a more competitive destination for foreign direct investment.
"By creating the Invest in Canada Hub, Canada has an opportunity to amplify the story that we tell the world: Canada is a great place to do business," said Chris Halyk, Chair, J&J Presidents' Council in Canada. "It is our hope that a focus for the new Hub is expanding investment in Canada's leading life sciences sector, as well as attracting and retaining companies in Canada. This will create good, well-paying jobs and spur innovation that improves health for the world."
The Invest in Canada Hub is a good first step to increasing foreign investment in Canada. J&J urges the federal government to establish the life sciences sector as a strategic market for the Hub's work and to work in partnership with other levels of government to provide the coordination and support needed to expand Canada's leadership in this innovative sector.
J&J looks forward to the creation of the Invest in Canada Hub by the end of 2017.
