CULTURAL ACTIVITIES AT BRANCHES
TD has a real treat for clients and arts lovers: On Friday, September 24, artists will be on site at eight of our Quebec branches during the afternoon to give people a first-hand look at their creative processes. Here's where to find them:
Marie Sylvestre (visual arts, mixed techniques)
1041 Bleury St., Montreal
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In this project, artist Marie Sylvestre will create a series of windmills (large and small) imbued with the spirit of the woods. To do this, she will use great expanses of trees as a canvas, as well as old photographs from the late 19th century and new photo images she will take herself.
Melsa Montagne and Sébastien Moreau (visual arts and music)
500 Saint-Jacques, Montreal
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The pairing of a classical guitarist with a visual artist gives us Acrylique Acoustique. While one explores a palette of sounds and rhythms, the other creates a synchronous canvas of shapes and colours - an amazing performance that dynamically balances diverse artistic modes.
Marie-Ange Brassard (visual arts, mixed techniques)
9780 Leduc Boulevard, Suite 5, Brossard
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The artist will build a collage that combines photos and writings from TDBFG history during its 150 years in Quebec. Clients and employees who want to take part will have 10 minutes to create collages on square pieces of paper, which they can then glue to a canvas.
France Malo (visual arts, mixed techniques)
571 Victoria Avenue, St-Lambert
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
As a contribution to the Culture Buffet, the artist will create a pictorial design live on the spot, on the theme of harmony between humans and their environment. This work will also form part of the Vélo-Tourisme series started in 2010, featuring the recreational activities of Quebec residents. Semi-abstract ("found" paintings) and semi-technological visual themes will be presented in this work.
Anik Lachance (visual arts, painting)
1260 Autoroute Duplessis, Sainte-Foy
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
An ecological theme using recycled materials and painted in shades of green will produce a 40" x 40" work layered with transparency and complexity that symbolizes the environment.
Nicole Cossette (visual arts, multidisciplinary)
1010 Avila, Piedmont
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Highlighted by organic textures and irregular shapes, varying shades of green will resonate in a dramatic vertical tapestry influenced by landscape art from the Far East. This artist's work draws on the Orient in both style and substance, since natural fibres such as wool, silk and cotton will be transformed through the ancient Asian felting techniques of shibori and nuno.
Mélodie Coutou (visual arts, eco-artist, sculpture, installation)
125 Du Plateau Boulevard, Hull
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A round, 4-foot wide, plywood sheet will be set up to depict a parcel of land composed of stylized trees. The base will be covered with light green topographical maps. Rigid cardboard tubes in various lengths and diameters will represent tree trunks.
Pierre Routhier (visual arts, painting and creation design)
255 Racine East, Local 100, Chicoutimi
Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Using the Chicoutimi branch and its surroundings for inspiration, the artist will fashion an urban scene from scratch. TD green as the main colour will accentuate the branch's involvement.
