NEW HEATHER'S PICKS!
Indigo CEO and Chief Booklover Heather Reisman is delighted to announce three new Heather's Picks for July: Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips, Beartown by Fredrik Backman, and The Alice Network by Kate Quinn.
Also July's Staff Pick of the Month, Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips is an electrifying thriller that will leave you breathless until the very last page. On a late October day, Joan takes her four-year-old son, Lincoln, to one of his favourite places on earth: the zoo. Just before close, their trip is transformed into three hours of terror as gunshots ring out. Fierce Kingdom is a pulse-pounding thrill ride – and an exploration of the very nature of motherhood and survival.
Fredrik Backman, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Man Called Ove, returns with Beartown, a dazzling novel about a small town with a big dream – and the price required to make it happen. People say Beartown is finished, but down by the lake is an old ice rink. And in that ice rink is the reason people believe tomorrow will be better than today: Beartown's junior ice hockey team. The semi-final match is a catalyst for a violent act that will leave a young girl traumatized and a town in turmoil. Beartown explores the hopes that bring a small town together, the secrets that tear it apart, and the courage it takes for an individual to go against the grain.
In The Alice Network, an enthralling new historical novel from national bestselling author Kate Quinn, two women—a female spy recruited to the real-life Alice Network in France during World War I and an unconventional American socialite searching for her cousin in 1947—are brought together in a mesmerizing story of courage and redemption. It's been thirty years since WWI, and former spy Eve spends her days drinking and secluded in her crumbling London home—until a young American barges in, uttering a name Eve hasn't heard in decades, and launches them both on a mission to find the truth.
