June 30 is the Busiest Moving Day of the Year
TORONTO, June 13, 2012 /CNW/ - According to the last published Census, 4.3 Million Canadians move annually; that's approximately 1.6 million families; approximately 13 per cent of those families move in June. Of the families moving in June approximately 1/3 chose June 30 to move; in Toronto, this means 30,000 people move on this day.
Said Dan Hopkins, COO, Two Men and A Truck - Canada, "Reasons for this moving day reality are that,
- school year ending in late June makes it easier for parents to move without disrupting their kids' education schedule;
- property taxes and rental leases are due for the mid year renewal period at the end of June, prompting renters to move to their new homes;
- with the Canada Day long weekend, families get an extra non work day to unpack, no snow, minimal chances of rain. All these circumstances make June 30 the most favorable moving day."
