Just What The Doctor Ordered: Doc McStuffins Series Premiere on Disney Junior, Sunday, April 8
MODERN FAMILY'S TY BURRELL GUEST STARS
TORONTO, March 29, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Astral's Disney Junior enters the imaginative world of magical stethoscopes and playhouse clinics with the series premiere of Doc McStuffins on Sunday, April 8 at 10 a.m. ET. Showcasing the hallmarks of great Disney storytelling, Doc McStuffins is an animated series about six-year-old Doc McStuffins who can talk to the stuffed animals and toys that she cares for in her backyard clinic.
In the premiere episode, "Out of the Box," Ty Burrell (Modern Family) guest stars as the voice of Big Jack, a nurturing Jack-in-the-Box, whose son Little Jack is having trouble popping up. When Big Jack asks Doc to take a look, Little Jack is afraid of the doctor and won't let Doc examine him. Doc diagnoses Little Jack with "Can't-pop-itis" and eases his fears so that he is back to popping in no time! With the help of Doc and her friends, Little Jack learns an important lesson about not being afraid of the doctor. Following the premiere, Doc McStuffins will air in its regular timeslot on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m. ET. Episodes will also be available on Disney Junior OnDemand starting Friday, April 13.
Each episode features two 11-minute stories in which Doc and her friends diagnose the situation and care for the toy in need. The characters and featured themes are designed to model good health, hygiene, compassion and nurturing. The Hollywood Health & Society division of the Norman Lear Center of the University of Southern California's Annenberg School serves as health and medical consultant for the series, advising on core health issues relevant to young children and their families.
