Kamloops Westsyde Care employees ratify agreement
BURNABY, BC, May 4 /CNW/ - Members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU) employed by Westsyde Care Residences in Kamloops have ratified their collective agreement by 100 percent, it was announced today.
"BCGEU members at Westsyde provide valuable care to brain injured clients and I am pleased that we have been able to reach this agreement with the employer," said Darryl Walker, BCGEU president. "These negotiations were the product of a long and good labour relationship with the employer."
"The increase in wages will help bring the wages more in line with the provincial community health agreement," said Walker.
Highlights of the agreement include:
Three-Year Agreement expiring on December 31, 2012.
Wage increases as follows: Seven percent (7%) retro-active to January 1, 2010; four and one-half percent (4.5%) effective January 1, 2011; four percent (4%) effective January 1, 2012.
Newly created Senior Rehabilitation Assistant Position (4 positions to be posted in July).
Increase in Dental and Vision Care
Compassionate Care Leave
The 30 employees at Westsyde Care work at a residence for the clients and provide personal and health care to them.
