Minister Bains announces the reappointment of Kathy Milsom for a three-year term
OTTAWA, Nov. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, today announced the reappointment of Kathy Milsom to the Governing Council of the Standards Council of Canada, a Crown corporation that oversees Canada's national standardization network.
Kathy Milsom previously served as chair of the Standards Council of Canada's Governing Council from April 2013 to April 2016. Throughout her career, she has held various positions in both private and public sector organizations. Kathy Milsom is the President and CEO of Toronto Community Housing Corporation. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority and as the chair of its Risk Oversight Committee. Recently, she was also a senior fellow of the Canada School of Public Service, delivering the school's Crown corporation director orientation program.
Kathy Milsom holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto and is certified through the Institute of Corporate Directors' Directors Education Program. In 2017, she was inducted into the University of Toronto's Engineering Hall of Distinction.
The Government of Canada's appointment process is based on openness and transparency to ensure that highly qualified candidates who reflect Canada's diversity, including gender balance, are appointed.
