Kellogg Canada Supports COVID-19 Hunger Relief Through Donations and Charitable Partnerships Across Canada and the Globe Français
More than $10 million donated to date globally by Kellogg Company, including more than $800,000 in food and funds in Canada to support long-term charitable partners Food Banks Canada and Breakfast Club of Canada
MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 28, 2020 /CNW/ - Kellogg Canada is creating Better Days and supporting communities across the country through hunger relief efforts in response to COVID-19. Strengthening its commitment to long-term charitable partners Food Banks Canada and Breakfast Club of Canada, Kellogg Canada has to date donated more than $800,000 in food and funds to these organizations. This is part of the more than $10 million that Kellogg Company and its charitable funds have donated to date globally.
"Kellogg Canada has always been and continues to be one of the first to the table to lend support to Food Banks Canada in challenging times. Since the early days, they've been working behind the scenes with us and lending a helping hand to unlock every opportunity for support," says Chris Hatch, Chief Executive Officer, Food Banks Canada. "We thank them for their continued leadership and passion for food security and their partnership to help ensure that our most vulnerable neighbours are served during these extremely challenging times."
"A longstanding partner of the Club, and among the first out of the gate to provide financial support to our COVID-19 Emergency Club Fund, we can always count on Kellogg Canada to lend support in a time of need," says Daniel Germain, Founder & President, Breakfast Club of Canada. "Despite the incredible obstacles we are all facing right now, we want to thank the whole Kellogg's family for helping us take the burden and insecurity off the shoulders of children and their family to replace it with hope and smiles."
Through the Kellogg's® Better Days purpose platform, the company has worked tirelessly with partners to identify those most in need and provide support to tackle hunger in Canada and across the globe through food and financial donations and community support. An early supporter of Breakfast Club of Canada's COVID-19 Emergency Club Fund and Food Banks Canada's COVID-19 Response Fund, the company also continues to offer support of critical community programs, such as Food Banks Canada's 'After the Bell' initiative. Typically a summer program, this initiative provides food packs to children who usually rely on school breakfast programs and now find themselves in need outside of the classroom. Kellogg Canada has also teamed up with Grocery Foundation of Canada and its members to distribute Kellogg's product coupons to families and children in the greatest need across the country.
"We are dedicated to supporting the efforts of Breakfast Club of Canada and Food Banks Canada, our longstanding partners for more than 10 years, to provide access to critical nourishment through our global Kellogg's Better Days purpose platform," says Tony Chow, President, Kellogg Canada Inc. "We are grateful to our partners and extended Kellogg family as we work together to help ensure Canadian families and children get access to the food they need during this unprecedented time."
The company's commitment to supporting the heroes who bring breakfast to the table does not stop there. Kellogg created a special digital spot to celebrate everyone involved in the food chain from farmers, line workers and truckers to grocery stockers, cashiers and food bank workers. The spot can be found on the Kellogg Canada Facebook, Instagram and YouTube platforms. In addition, Kellogg Canada employees are living the company's heart and soul, showing their support during National Volunteer Week by writing notes of appreciation and gratitude to food bank and breakfast club volunteers through a #CheersToVolunteers virtual campaign. Employees are also donating on a personal level and volunteering their time to non-profits in their local communities.
Kellogg Canada will continue to assess needs and determine where it can best support hunger relief efforts as the nation moves forward during this challenging time.
