Kia Canada Inc. records best October on record; advances to industry leading 46 months of continued sales growth Français
- Record October with 6,428 units sold, representing a 24.1 per cent increase year-over-year
- Record-breaking year continues as Kia reports 68,122 units sold, a 19.8 per cent increase year-to-date
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Kia Canada Inc. reported its best October ever with 6,428 new vehicles sold, a 24.1 per cent increase when compared to the same month last year. Kia's October sales results elevated the brand to an industry leading 46 months of consecutive sales growth, with a total of 68,122 vehicles sold in 2012 thus far and a 19.8 per cent increase year-to-date.
Sales for the month of October were driven by two familiar models and a Canadian-specific model in North America, all achieving over 1,000 vehicle sales each. The Forte family, including the sedan, Koup and 5-Door, drove volume sales for the month, reporting 1,195 units; a 23.8 per cent increase over October 2011. The Sorento Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) closely followed the Forte in sales for the month with 1,182 units sold. The Rondo, Canada's Urban Utility Vehicle, was also welcomed into Kia's top three vehicle lines with 1,005 units, representing an impressive 157 per cent growth when compared to October 2011.
"Sales successes are continuing at Kia Canada as the year progresses, and Kia's recognition also continues to expand," said Robert Staffieri, Director of Marketing, Kia Canada Inc. "Last month was very exciting for Kia, as we were acknowledged as a 'Top 100 Best Global Brand' by Interbrand, while locally the Rio sub-compact, available in sedan and 5-Door variants, was named onto the Canadian Automotive Jury's 2013 'Best of the Best Finalist' list, which awards a select number of top new vehicle offerings to Canadians for the year."
In the month of October, Kia was recognized as a 'Top 100 Best Global Brand' according to a study released by Interbrand, the world's largest brand consultancy agency. Kia's brand value is estimated at $4.1 billion USD, which firmly positions the automaker in the 87th position on the list.
Kia Canada was also a recipient of a Canadian Automotive Jury (CAJ) acknowledgment as the Rio was selected to grace the Canadian Automotive Jury's 2013 'Best of the Best Finalist' list. The Jury selects 12 vehicles annually that reflect a wide variety of segments providing a comprehensive list of new cars for sale to Canadians that they believe to be the best on the market. The Rio has previously been named MotoringTV's "2012 Best Small Car under $21,000," while globally it has been the recipient of numerous other accolades, including a red dot design award for elite product design and an Automotive Brand Contest (ABC) Design Award.
