EllisDon Newfoundland, along with its sub-trades, consultants and suppliers donates $20,000 in toys to patients at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre and $10,000 to the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation
ST. JOHN'S, Dec. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - EllisDon Newfoundland, along with its sub-trades, consultants, suppliers and architects have teamed up to raise more than $20,000 worth of toys for the kids of Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre. On Wednesday, December 19th at 2:00pm, the EllisDon team along with Santa and his elves will hand deliver toys to the more than 140 children staying at or getting treatment from the hospital.
"EllisDon Newfoundland is a company with deep roots in the area", said Kevin Reptke, Sr. Project Manager. "Our staff is made up of Newfoundlanders that take personal pride in their community and want to give back in any way they can," he says. "We don't just build here and leave; we live and raise our kids here and are a part of the community."
Along with toys purchased for the children, the group will also donate $10,000 to the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation to help with their continuous efforts in raising funds for kids throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
"On behalf of Eastern Health and the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation, I would like to thank EllisDon for their very generous donations," said Beverley Clarke, Vice-President responsible for the Children's and Women's Program at Eastern Health. "These donations have a direct and positive impact on the children who are receiving care at the Janeway, especially during this time of year. In addition, the full benefits of your investments will continue to be felt for many years to follow by our patients and their families, and is also appreciated by our health care professionals who care for these children each and every day."
Amongst the toys purchased, 30 Play Station 3 game-consoles were at the top of the wish list. Each room will now have its own console and allow the kids to entertain themselves with the popular system.
EllisDon opened its doors to the Newfoundland office in June 2011 and is currently the General Contractor for the new 500-bed residence at Memorial University as well as the Carbonear Long Term Facility located in Carbonear.
