Kids at Janeway set to get a special visit from local General Contractor again this year
EllisDon Newfoundland, along with its sub-trades, consultants, architects and suppliers donates $20,000 in toys to patients at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre and $15,000 to the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation.
ST. JOHN'S, Dec. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - EllisDon Newfoundland, along with its sub-trades, consultants, suppliers and architects have teamed up to raise more than $20,000 worth of toys for the kids of Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre. On Friday, December 20th at 10:00am, the EllisDon team along with Santa and his elves will hand deliver toys to the more than 75 children staying at or getting treatment from the hospital.
"EllisDon Newfoundland continues to be a company with deep roots in the area", said Kevin Reptke, Sr. Project Manager. "Our team is made up of Newfoundlanders that take personal pride in their community and want to give back in any way they can," he says. "We are all a part of the community so it is only natural we do whatever we can to give back."
Along with toys purchased for the children, the group will also donate $15,000 to the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation to help with their continuous efforts in raising funds for kids throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
"It is gifts such as the toys donated by EllisDon that make the transition to hospital life so much easier on our young Janeway patients, which better allows our staff to provide the special care they need and deserve - especially at this time of year," said Lynn Sparkes, Executive Director of the Janeway Foundation. "Their generous donation to the Foundation will also help provide more state-of-the-art medical equipment, vital medical research and educational health programs, so we can continue offering the best pediatric health care possible to all our kids."
Amongst the toys purchased, 12 rocking chairs for the nursery and a home theatre projector were at the top of the wish list. The group will also hand-deliver four laptops for use in the hospital as well as well-deserved coffee gift cards to each of the nurses on staff that day.
EllisDon opened its doors to the Newfoundland office in June 2011 and is currently the General Contractor for five on-going projects in the area.
