Kitchener-Waterloo Liberals to nominate byelection candidate Aug. 9th
KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON, July 20, 2012 /CNW/ - Ontario Liberals will select their candidate for the upcoming byelection in the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo at a nomination meeting on Aug. 9.
"Three well-respected and extremely qualified candidates have come forward to seek the Liberal nomination," said Party President Yasir Naqvi. "They would all be great representatives for the people of Kitchener-Waterloo and we look forward to an exciting nomination meeting."
The nomination meeting will be held on Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Bingemans, 425 Bingemans Centre Drive in Kitchener.
The three declared candidates are:
Eric Davis - A community volunteer and life-long resident of Kitchener-Waterloo, Eric is currently a lawyer with Miller-Thomson LLP, focusing on municipal and planning law. A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier, Eric and his wife, Cynthia, have a young daughter, Isabella.
Karen Scian - A former teacher, Karen is the current city councillor for Ward 2 and Chair of the Finance and Strategic Planning Committee. Karen has lived in Kitchener-Waterloo for almost 30 years and has a son, Peter, in high school and a daughter, Linnea, studying Business Law in Ottawa.
Raj Sharma - A staff sergeant with over 30 years on the Waterloo Region police force, Raj is a community activist and builder. Currently a career development officer, Raj is a life-long resident of the community. He and his wife, Savita, have three grown children, including one who is a police officer.
